I created this piece emotionally. I needed to create and reapply myself to art. I was stuck at a crossroad and I needed to apply myself to continue on the journey. I had a print of a friend's child at her birthday party. She was in a state of beauty, hope and innocence just before she was going to blow the candles out. It was a photo that stuck with me for a few years. I looked at it again and was fighting back the negative self-talk that comes when you are not sure of something. When you are deciding whether to fight or flight. This piece represents those two moments in contrast. A youthful moment of hope and then the experienced negative self-talk we regurgitate as adults. I hope with this piece helps leave the negative thoughts behind and brings our true selves forward while we enjoy our lives.
